Santa Rosa

The Center of Wine Country

Set just 55 miles to the north of San Francisco and right in the center of Northern California’s wine country is the lovely community of Santa Rosa. As the hub for Sonoma County, Santa Rosa is the perfect place for guests to base their trip to the region. It is rich traditions that come with being one of the world’s premier wine grape growing regions that make Santa Rosa so special. The same climate that is perfect for growing grapes that also makes Santa Rosa an amazing place to visit. The spring and summer are calm and warm and the winters are always mild. The tree-lined streets of downtown are filled with gourmet eateries, eclectic galleries and interesting shops. At the Historic Railroad Square, visitors can take some time to check out the fine antiques, vintage clothing shops and unique cafes. And since Santa Rosa is close to the San Francisco Bay area, it’s a great place to set off on adventures to the many sights and attractions in the region.

First and foremost, visitors to Santa Rosa will certainly be checking out the 200-plus wineries and vineyards throughout the region. In the town of Santa Rosa, top wineries include Paradise Ridge, Hannah and Matanzinas Wineries; all open their doors for guests to enjoy tasting and learning about the area’s most famous export. For those looking to hit the fairways and practice their swing, one of the 16 golf courses around Santa Rosa will surely help you get your fix and get that elusive hole-in-one. For more outdoor activities, there are quite a few parks with open spaces, hiking and biking trails and places to relax and disconnect. Once you are rested and ready for retail therapy, Santa Rosa Plaza has great shopping with apparel, jewelry and music shops as well as small boutiques. And when the day is done, Santa Rosa has luxurious hotels and inns such as Hotel La Rose with in-room whirlpools, balconies overlooking the rose garden and attentive service.

Private Aircraft Charter to Santa Rosa FAQ

What do I need to think about when chartering to Santa Rosa?

Guests headed to Santa Rosa have a couple of airport options for their arrival and departure. Charles M Schulz - Sonoma County Airport – STS - is the main airport for Sonoma County and Santa Rosa with long runways that will comfortably accept all classes of aircraft. Known as the Gateway to Wine Country, STS is ideally located for visits to all of the region’s vineyards, wineries and wonderful communities. On the other hand, if you prefer to come and go from a smaller airport with less congestion, Petaluma Municipal Airport – O69 - is perfect for your trip. Petaluma Municipal Airport is about 17-miles south of Santa Rosa with drive times of about 25-minutes. It sits just outside of the lovely town of Petaluma and very close to Highway 101. This makes it conveniently located for those also visiting Marin County, San Francisco and Oakland. Because its runway is relatively short, Petaluma Airport is best used by turboprops and light jets.
