Idaho's Lake of Luxury
Set right on the shore of pristine Lake Coeur d’Alene is the eponymously named vacation town of Coeur d’ Alene. Lake Coeur d’ Alene is on the northern side of Idaho’s panhandle with the city located on its north shore. Near the turn of the 20th century, Coeur d’ Alene was the regional hub for the timber and mining industries. Located on the 25-mile-long lake’s north shore, what started as a rough-cut industrial town has seen been transformed into an outdoor adventure vacation town. During the summer, there is endless fun on Lake Coeur d’Alene such as water skiing, fishing and boating. Many golfers visit Coeur d’ Alene for its world-class courses and resorts. Regarded as one of the United States’ best, the 18-hole Coeur d’Alene golf course is best known for its 14th hole, which floats on the lake. And with the pristine lake and mountains as its backdrop, it’s no wonder Golf Digest named it “Americas Most Beautiful Golf Course”.
Even though much of the focus in Coeur d’ Alene is the lake, that is not to say there isn’t so much more on land as well. Wild Waters and Silverwood Theme Park both call Coeur d’ Alene home and have days of fast paced excitement with hair-raising rides and roller coasters, speeding waterslides and entertainment for the little ones. To get a taste of the old west, the Red Horse Mountain Dude Ranch is the perfect place to experience what life was like in times past. Horseback riding, cattle sorting, shooting and campfires are just a few of the things that will show guests what cowboy life was really like, only less dangerous. For your stay, the Coeur d’ Alene Resort situated right on the lake has luxurious rooms, attentive service and gourmet dining. What’s best about Coeur d’ Lane, however, is that it lets visitors get away from it all while not missing a thing.
