Coachella Weekend 2

An unforgettable weekend of top musical acts and the best visual artists

Over two weekends during spring each year is the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA's Coachella Valley, the festival is just east of Palm Springs. The main attractions of this festival are the musical guests that include many popular genres such as rock, hip hop, electronic dance music and indie. The event is set among the polo grounds with six different stages and performance areas with non-stop live music and entertainment. Along with the music comes visual forms of expression such as sculptures, art instillations and performances. While Coachella has stacked lineups of major recording artists, it is also a showcase for new and up and coming artists and musicians.

Because Coachella is held over the three days during two consecutive weekends in April, each weekend of the event has the same artists but with slightly different vibes. Week one is more of a party atmosphere where people go to see and be seen, with many Hollywood stars and musicians attending. Week two, while equally impressive, is a bit more mellow with the focus being more on the music and performances. While the full lineup will be announced in early 2022, rest assured that this year will be unforgettable.

Although Coachella is best-known for its musical performances, it is also a features sculptures, visual and instillation art, many of which are interactive. During the early years of Coachella, the art component of the festival was far less prominent than in recent years. Now, the size, scope and complexity of this aspect of the festival has grown into an event in its own right. This year's collection of instillation art features area that has been altered into a three-dimensional work that lets visitors experience the art as much as simply seeing it. Past art featured at Coachella have gone on to be featured at Art Basel and included creators like Cyclecide, Robochrist Industries and Emek. While Coachella is about the art and music, it is really an unforgettable experience and destination in and of itself.
