New York City’s Greatest Gathering of Galleries
New York City has many art shows, events and gatherings throughout the year. However, there are none that are as grand and which attract such a huge collection of art as Frieze NYC. 2022's edition will be taking place at The Shed on Manhattan's West Side. Recently opened in 2019, The Shed is one of New York's premier cultural centers. It is responsible for commissioning, producing and presenting a wide range of performing and visual art. Originally founded in London in 1991 as Frieze Magazine and as an art fair in 2003, Frieze Media now holds the annual NYC event to showcase the newest and best in the art world. There are over 1000 artists and galleries from all over the world, all featuring some of their finest and most exclusive works. 2022's event will feature nearly 65 galleries across Main and Frame. The Main portion feature exhibitions from galleries of internationally recognized artists while Frame showcases solo artists presentations from galleries up to 10-years-old.
Frieze NYC, while being centered around the show at The Shed, is in-fact an entire weekend of events. Frieze Projects is a program of artist commissions that are site-specific where spaces are transformed into different environments such as a gallery set up like a hidden movie theatre. Frieze Talks are a series of panel dialogues that present lectures and discussions focusing on art world with artists, theorists and philosophers all sharing their thoughts and ideas. Frieze Frame is the organizations program set up to promote the work by newer galleries with 18 of the most exciting galleries in the world, all being around for less than 18 years. What makes Frieze NYC so great is that it takes place in New York City. Being in the Big Apple means that you are always steps away from some of the best dining and finest hotels around, making Frieze NYC an unforgettable weekend experience.
