Bend

Where Your Oregon Adventure Begins

Set between the Cascade Range and the Deschutes River is Central Oregon’s biggest city, Bend. And although its population is relatively low, the surrounding area’s sparse population makes Bend the region’s urban center. It’s the landscape that makes Bend such a gorgeous place with a skyline backed up by snowy peaks that give way to the vast high desert. It’s the same land that provides all the outdoor fun such as mountain biking, mountaineering and hiking. And it’s not only fun on land. Bend has just as much fun on the water. The Deschutes River as well as the many lakes in the Cascades have excellent whitewater rafting, boating and swimming. Just 22 miles from Bend is Mount Bachelor and the Mount Bachelor Ski Resort. With a vertical drop of 3,365 feet and 3,683 acres of skiable terrane, Mt. Bachelor is one of the biggest ski areas in the Pacific Northwest. When the weather warms up, the snow melts to reveal an impressive network of hiking and mountain biking trails. For a more relaxing time outdoors, guests can head to Smith Rock State Park on Oregon’s high desert plateau. Its 651 acres of open space has mountain biking, nature walks and a lovely campsite.

What’s best about Bend is that along with the amazing outdoor fun, its downtown offers just as much to enjoy. Delicious eateries, local breweries and fine galleries all welcome guests to Bend’s wonderful downtown. Art aficionados will love the Roundabout Art Route that takes visitors past 20 displays of public art and sculptures in some very unique places such as traffic circles, beside trees and next to buildings. The local brew scene is thriving in Bend with more breweries per capita than any other city in the state. There are beer tours, tastings and festivals throughout the year. Bend is also a shopper’s delight not only in downtown but also in the Old Mill District and Northwest Crossing. An eclectic mix of local goods and national brands, there is top notch shopping for apparel, jewelry and outdoor gear. The accommodations in Bend vary from vacation rentals and lovely B&Bs to luxurious hotels. The Oxford Hotel, named as one of the top hotels in the U.S. by Condé Nast Traveler and Trip Advisor is in downtown Bend. Guests can relax in the 4-diamond service with opulent rooms and service fit for a king and queen. It’s clear that Bend will afford you not only a perfect holiday in the great outdoors but also one of cosmopolitan class and style, right downtown.

Private Aircraft Charter to Bend FAQ

What do I need to think about when chartering to Bend?

Bend has two excellent airports in the area that are both within a short drive to downtown and the surrounding attractions. Bend Municipal Airport – BDN - is only eight miles to the east of downtown, with drive times of about 15-minutes. It is conveniently located near Routes 97 and 20, so there is easy access to all of central Oregon’s attractions such as Willamette National Forrest Mount Bachelor ski area and Tumalo Falls. A second airport option is available 18 miles north of Bend with Redmond Municipal Airport – RDM. Set in the town of Redmond, RDM airport is right on Oregon Route 126, which provides guests with easy access to Mount Washington and Three Fingered Jack mountain. What’s best is that both airports have runways long enough to comfortably accommodate even the largest and heaviest business jets.
