Oceanside

The Intersection of Sun and Fun

When seeking out the classic California escape, people need to look no further than the lovely city of Oceanside. Set at the northern end of San Diego County, Oceanside offers uncrowded beaches, a fun downtown and alluring neighborhoods. The year-round climate and perfect temperatures are so good that USA Today named it one of the best climates in the U.S. Oceanside is an amazing place to explore, with a history that ranges from the founding of California to the earliest days of surfing. The Pacific Ocean provides endless beach fun and incredible sea life viewing opportunities. Visitors and residents alike are drawn to the outdoors. Oceanside is the type of laid-back place where locals get around on bikes and skateboards as much as they do in cars. Its setting between San Diego and Los Angeles makes it easy to visit the attractions to the north and south. Less than an hour to the south is San Diego with attractions like the San Diego Zoo, LEGOLAND and Carlsbad. To the north is Los Angeles where guests can go to Disneyland, Hollywood and Venice Beach.

Spanning over four miles, the nine beaches in Oceanside have soft sand, warm sun and perfect waves. The conditions are so good that Oceanside is considered one of the best surf spots in the world. It is so good, in fact, that the world’s largest women’s surf competition – Supergirl Pro Jam - is held annually in Oceanside. The California Surf Museum is just outside of downtown and has exhibits and interactive activities, all to fill you in on California’s favorite sport. Oceanside is not only sun and fun, however. Its downtown has a growing craft beer scene, culinary delights and excellent shopping. Throughout the year, Oceanside is home to many there weekly, monthly and annual events. First Friday art walks, weekly farmers markets and an eclectic collection of concerts take place right in downtown. Along the beachfront, resorts such as the Wyndham Oceanside Pier Resort, Southern California Beach Club and Aquamarine Villas all offer excellent rooms with ocean views, gourmet eateries and refreshing pools.

Private Aircraft Charter to Oceanside FAQ

What do I need to think about when chartering to Oceanside?

Visitors to Oceanside have two great airport options to serve their flights to the area. The main airport to service the region is Oceanside Municipal Airport-Bob Maxwell Field – OKB. At just two miles from Oceanside, OKB is the easiest and most convenient airport, with only a five-minute drive from downtown. Its location in northern San Diego County make it a great airport for those also visiting the Carlsbad, Rancho Del Oro and Rancho Santa Fe. Because OKB has short runways, it is only available for turboprops and light jets. Visitors arriving in mid-size and heavy jets have Mc Clellan-Palomar Airfield – CRQ, located in the nearby community of Carlsbad. CRQ airport is 10 miles south of Oceanside with a quick, 10-minute drive up the coast to Oceanside. CRQ is set right on Interstate 5, which provides easy access to San Diego to the south and Orange County and Los Angeles to the north.
