Palo Alto

The Bay Area's Luxurious Enclave

Home to Stanford University and of the San Francisco Bay Area’s finest communities in the town of Palo Alto. Meaning “tall tree” in Spanish, Palo Alto gets its name from the 1,061-year-old and 110 feet tall Sequoia in north end of town. Set just south of San Francisco and on “The Peninsula”, this lovely town is a fusion of technology and modernism with a relaxing small-town vibe. Not only is Palo Alto a perfect hub for your Bay Area vacation, but it is also a perfect place to spend some time. What started as a quiet college town is now the home to venture capitalists, tech CEOs and a young student population. Its central location between San Jose and San Francisco makes it an excellent place to base a visit to the entire Bay Area. And since it sits right up on San Francisco Bay’s southern side, the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Preserve is right next door and offers amazing nature walks and wildlife viewing through the technicolor salt flats.

Downtown Palo Alto is the perfect place to start your holiday, especially with so many farm-to-table restaurants, locally owned boutiques and high-end retailers. Being one of the richest towns in the nation means that Palo Alto prefers delights and opulence, and a day downtown will provide all of that. Further, with nearly perfect weather year-round, Palo Alto is teeming with outdoor opportunities such as cycling, nature walks and top golfing. A visit to Stanford University is also recommended with a stroll through its palm-tree lined streets, stately buildings and some of the most expensive neighborhoods anywhere. For some serenity, Shoreline Lake is where guests should go. Just south of town, this beautiful lake has paddle boat rentals, easy walking trails and picnic spots with unbelievable views. And when the day is done, the Four Seasons Palo Alto is all that is to be expected from a 5-star hotel with luxurious rooms and impeccable service. With so much to do and see, Palo Alto is the perfect place to base your Bay Area holiday.

Private Aircraft Charter to Palo Alto FAQ

What do I need to think about when chartering to Palo Alto?

Getting to Palo Alto couldn’t be easier, with a local airport right in town and one to the north and one to the south in San Francisco and San Jose. At just under three miles from downtown and only under 10 minutes by car, Palo Alto Airport – PAO - is by far the most conveniently located airport to downtown Palo Alto. Because PAO’s runway is quite short, it is best used by turboprops and very light jets. Those arriving in larger aircraft have two other airports to choose with more than enough runway for every size of aircraft. San Francisco International Airport – SFO - is 22 miles north of Palo Alto and has drive times of around 30 minutes. SFO is a great choice for guests who will be spending time in San Francisco as well as in Sonoma and Napa Counties. 16 miles to the south of Palo Alto is Mineta San Jose International Airport – SJC – which is about 20-25 minutes by car. Guests prefer SJC because it sees less airline traffic, has consistently better weather and experiences fewer delays than SFO.
