Oakland

“The Bright Side of The Bay”

Located on the east side of San Francisco Bay is the city of Oakland, CA. Proudly known by the locals as “The Town”, Oakland was traditionally seen in the shadow of San Francisco. The reality, however, is that Oakland is an exciting, multicultural city that blends its rich history with a cosmopolitan vibe. With one of the busiest ports in the United States, Oakland is the center of trade for Northern California and is home to major companies such as the online music giant Pandora and BrightSource Energy. There is a laid-back and relaxed vibe compared to that of other major cities and is a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the other side of the bay. With this comes a city filled with unique things to do, see and experience. In fact, Oakland is such a great destination it was named one of “Americas Coolest Cities” by Forbes Magazine as well as one of “Americas Most Exciting Cities” by Movoto.

With more artists per-capita than any other city in the United States, Oakland is full of galleries and art shows. Art aficionados will love the many galleries, monthly Oakland Art Murmur and the weekly Art Strolls. When it comes to shopping, Oakland is certainly no slouch. In Temescal, one of Oakland’s many neighborhoods, boutiques, book shops and studios line two alleys set aside for pedestrians only. Oakland’s theatre scene is thriving and features everything from Broadway shows to local improv groups. Jack London Square, named after the Oakland author, is the waterfront destination in Oakland that has shopping and entertainment. Enjoy Yoshi’s Restaurant and Jazz Club where guests can enjoy authentic Japanese food while top jazz musicians regularly perform. For luxury accommodations while in Oakland, the Fairmont Claremont Hotel & Spa is a set in the Oakland Hills and is a recently restored urban resort. Its opulent rooms, refreshing pool and perfectly tended grounds make it the most luxurious place to stay while visiting Oakland.

Private Aircraft Charter to Oakland FAQ

What do I need to think about when chartering to Oakland?

Being set in the middle of the San Francisco Bay Area, Oakland has great airports for guests arriving and departing on their charter flights to the region. Oakland International Airport – OAK – is the East Bay’s main airport, and it’s just 10-miles from downtown. Charter flights at OAK are handled on the opposite of the airport from the passenger terminal, so there are rarely issues with crowds and traffic. A second option is Hayward Executive Airport – HWD – which is an exclusively general aviation airport. This means that with no airline traffic, there are very few delays, little to no crowds and very easy access. The drive from HWD airport to downtown Oakland is 22-miles, with drive times of around 30 minutes.
