San Francisco

The Cultural and Economic Center of Northern California

With the Pacific Ocean to the west and the beautiful San Francisco Bay on the East, San Francisco is the jewel of Northern California. Urban sophistication, natural beauty and a groovy history all come together in a city with more to do than a person can fit into an entire week. As a well-known foodie haven, each of San Francisco’s many neighborhoods such as North Beach – Italian, The Mission District – Mexican and Chinatown – Cantonese and Sichuan features a different style of ethnic cuisine. Being just a short drive from Sonoma and Napa brings a number of high-end dining opportunities with farm-to-table ingredients from some of the nation’s most famed chefs: eateries such as Tyler Florence’s Wayfare Tavern and Michael Mina’s eponymously named restaurant. The nearly perfect weather that San Francisco experiences year-round, combined with the many parks, squares and bayside offer up amazing places to relax for a picnic.

When it's time to shop, Union Square has everything from major retailers to high end boutiques and fine-art galleries. At the San Francisco Centre, check out over 180 stores and restaurants, including high-end retailers like Rolex, Burberry and Michael Kors. Smaller neighborhoods such as The Marina and Noe Valley are lined with small, local shops, unique galleries and delightful boutiques. A stroll along Haight Street takes visitors back to the 1960’s and San Francisco’s Summer of Love. If art museums are your thing, San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art, the de Young Museum and the Asian Art Museum are all available for visits and tours. San Francisco is also well-known for its many sights and attractions such as Alcatraz, The Golden Gate Bridge and Fisherman’s Wharf. The Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market takes place on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday where visitors can purchase artisan-produced goods and locally grown fruits and vegetables.

An exciting way to see San Francisco is with a helicopter tour of The City that lets guests fly above all of the amazing sights for a unique view of the many landmarks and natural beauty. With wine country under an hour away, personalized visits to the nearby to Napa Valley and Sonoma County all readily available. San Francisco is also known for its champion professional sports teams with the Giants, 49ers and Golden State Warriors all calling The City home. San Francisco also hosts music festivals throughout the year such as Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Outside Lands and the Treasure Island Music Festival. Taking a ride on one of San Francisco’s famed cable cars takes guests up and down the steep hills The City is known for. And at the end of the day, guests will appreciate the wide selection of top hotels including the Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton and Mandarin Oriental.

Private Aircraft Charter to San Francisco FAQ

What do I need to think about when chartering to San Francisco?

As to be expected of a major city, San Francisco has many airports throughout the region that are well-equipped to accommodate guest’s charter flights. The largest and closest airport to downtown is San Francisco International Airport – SFO. As a major hub airport, SFO can comfortably handle everything from turboprops to long-range heavy jets. Drive time from SFO to San Francisco is typically between 25-35 minutes, depending on traffic. SFO is an ideal airport for those visiting The City as well as Sonoma and Napa County’s Wine Country. Oakland International Airport – OAK - is just across the bay from SFO and also has enough space for every type of charter jet. OAK is popular for charter flights as its consistently better weather and less airline traffic than SFO mean delays are very rare. San Carlos Airport - SQL – is 11 miles south of SFO and because of its shorter runway, is an ideal option for guests arriving on turboprops and very light jets. SQL’s location on the San Francisco Peninsula make it conveniently located for guests visiting places like San Jose, Palo Alto and Mountain View. There are no airlines serving SQL, so it has none of the crowds, traffic and delays seen at larger airports.
