Lake Tahoe

Fun That Goes Deep as the Lake

Called “Americas Best Lake” by USA Today and a Number One Travel Destination by TripAdvisor, Northern California’s Lake Tahoe is a place that truly lives up to its titles. Sitting at 6,225 feet in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and known for its brilliantly clear water, Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in Northern California and the second deepest in the United States. With this comes some of the world’s best outdoor and adventure sports and activities surrounded by pristine nature with a thriving and vibrant ecosystem. And it’s not just winter sports in Tahoe because when it warms up, it becomes a major sports and leisure destination as well.

It goes without saying that Tahoe is one of the world’s premier winter sports destinations. Home to the state’s largest area, Heavenly Mountain Resort, boasts nearly 100 runs being served by 30 lifts.
The next largest ski area in Tahoe is world-class Squaw Valley, which hosted the 1960 Winter Games. Other excellent Tahoe area ski resorts include Alpine Meadows, Northstar at Tahoe and Diamond Peak. And while Tahoe is synonymous with fun in the snow, the summertime sports are just as great, with fun both in the mountains and on the lake. If you are looking for mountain biking and hiking, the 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail circles the entire lake with amazing views, vistas and camping.

The warm months on Lake Tahoe offer amazing fun on the lake and the adventure on the land. Fishing, boating and swimming are perfect ways to cool off in the crystal-clear lake. Boat and jet-ski rentals are available at Kings Beach on Lake Tahoe’s North Shore. The land surrounding the lake draws many visitors to the hiking, mountain biking and postcard-perfect views. While Lake Tahoe is best known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreation, don’t forget that there is a lot of fun to be had when the day is done. With the California-Nevada border traversing the lake and the Nevada towns of Incline Village and Crystal Bay just a few miles away, Las Vegas style casinos are right next door with slot machines and table games.

Private Aircraft Charter to Lake Tahoe FAQ

What do I need to think about when chartering to Lake Tahoe?

Lake Tahoe and the surrounding region is served by airports at the lakes north and south ends. Truckee-Tahoe Airport – TRK, is just outside the town of Truckee and about 10-minute drive from Lake Tahoe’s northern tip. It is centrally located for quick access to downtown Truckee and 15 minutes from Northstar California resort. TRK airport is well-equipped to handle the winter weather and has more than enough runway for all sizes of aircraft. Guests visiting the southern part of Tahoe will find Lake Tahoe Airport – TVL - perfectly suits their needs. TVL Airport sits next to the town of South Lake Tahoe and is right on Highways 89 and 50. Places like Heavenly Mountain Resort, Emerald Bay and the Nevada casinos are all a short drive away from TVL airport. And like Truckee Airport, TVL has enough space for long runways and enough space for every class of charter jet.
