A "Simi-ingly" Perfect Destination
Simi Valley is where visitors can enjoy small town charm while being close to everything that Southern California has to offer. Set in the eponymously named valley on the Southern California Coast, Simi Valley is the perfect place to base a trip to the area. Just 30 miles from downtown Los Angeles, Simi Valley is encircled by the Santa Susana Mountains and the Simi Hills. The climate is what is to be expected in this part of the Sunshine State with warm, dry summers and mild winters with just a bit of rain. Hikers who come to Simi Valley can enjoy the 50-plus miles of trails that traverse the protected open spaces and mountains that surround the valley. Although Simi Valley is inland from the coast, it is ideally situated for days by the shore with three of Southern California’s best beaches – Santa Monica, Malibu and Ventura – equidistant from town.
Guests visiting Simi Valley during the winter looking for some fun on the slopes should head to the nearby Mountain High Resort. Set in the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains about an hour’s drive from Simi Valley, Mountain High Resort is at 6,600 feet and features over 290 acres of skiable terrain. During the warmer months, Simi Valley has endless hiking and mountain biking trails at Arroyo Simi Bike Path, Hummingbird Creek and Rancho Tapo Community Park. Golfers can choose from 9, 18 and 36-hole games at one of the three excellent courses in town. At Tierra Rejada golf course, golfers can take on the Par 72 course that Golf Digest rated at 4.5 out of 5 stars. Simi Valley’s prime location in Southern California makes it a perfect place to set off to see all of Southern California’s best attractions such as Disneyland, Universal Studios, Hollywood and the San Diego Zoo and the Santa Monica Pier.
Guests traveling to Simi Valley have two airports to serve their charter flights to the area in the nearby communities of Camarillo and Oxnard. Camarillo Airport – CMA – is the best airport for guests spending time in Simi Valley as well as planning visits to Thousand Oaks and the San Fernando Valley. CMA has long runways, so there are no restrictions on the size and class of aircraft that can use the airport. The 23-mile drive from CMA to downtown Simi Valley takes about 25 minutes. A second option, Oxnard – OXR – is set a bit further away from Simi Valley on the coast and sees drive times of around 40 minutes. Oxnard Airport’s location on the coast make it perfect for visits to places like Ventura, Malibu and Point Mugu State Park. Like Camarillo Airport, OXR has long runways and can comfortably accommodate heavy jets.
