Ventura

Calm, Cool, California

Few places reflect the classic California beachside lifestyle like Ventura. Located north of Los Angeles and along the Pacific Coast, Ventura is a place that exceeds expectations. Founded in 1782 as one of the locations of a California Mission, Ventura has a history that stretches far beyond the days when surfers discovered its perfect waves. People come to Ventura for its comfortable climate, friendly people and great downtown. It’s a place where urban sophistication meets old town charm, all while maintaining a style and feel that is all California. Its historic buildings, classic wooden pier and Main Street shopping district come together for a perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon. And it is the perfect place to set off on some outdoor adventures. Just off of Ventura are the Santa Barbara Channel Islands, which can be reached by chartered boats and airplanes. These uninhabited islands provide hiking opportunities, wildlife viewing and truly secluded camping. And being just north of Los Angeles makes Ventura a perfect place to base your visit to all of Southern California.

The centerpiece of Ventura is, of course, its iconic beaches stretching from San Buenaventura Beach to the south to Surfers’ Point to the north. This beautiful stretch of sand is a place where you can relax under the warm sun, cool off in the ocean and ride the perfect waves. What’s best is that the waves are nice and calm so it’s perfect for beginners. Ventura’s working harbor has extensive boutiques, galleries and seafood restaurants with outdoor seating overlooking the water. When guests are ready for some great dining and shopping, downtown Ventura has it all. From quirky thrift stores to upmarket retailers, Ventura is a shopper’s paradise. And for dining, the eateries range from local farm-to-table restaurants to high-end, gourmet eateries. Culture buffs should stop by the museum, take a tour of the mission and enjoy some time in its rose-filled courtyard. There are a large number of lodging options in Ventura including beachside rentals, casual B&B’s and 4-star Ventura Beach Marriot.

Private Aircraft Charter to Ventura FAQ

What do I need to think about when chartering to Ventura?

Getting in and out of Ventura is always easy, with two great airports that are both a short drive from downtown and the area’s beaches. The closest airport to Ventura is Oxnard Airport – OXR - which sits about seven miles and just a quick, 15-minute drive from town. OXR is just about two miles from the coast, so it is ideal for beach visits as well day trips to the Channel Islands. Another great option is Camarillo Airport – CMA - that is just a bit further from Ventura than OXR at 14 miles that take about 25 minutes in a car. CMA’s location right on Highway 101 gives it easy access to Santa Barbara to the north and Los Angeles to the south. And since both airports have long runways, there are no restrictions on the size and class of aircraft that can comfortably use them.
