Surprise

Living Up to its Name

Surprise, AZ, which is located about 45 minutes from downtown Phoenix, is a vibrant and growing community. Surrounded by the beautiful Sonoran Desert, Surprise has parkland on three sides and the city of Phoenix to the east. The picturesque Sonoran Desert surrounding Surprise has abundant animal and plant life, including the iconic saguaro cactus. The climate is one of the main reasons folks come to Surprise with its hot, dry summers and mild, relaxing winters. Surprise has something for everyone ranging from relaxing spa getaways to exciting outdoor adventures. And at 45 minutes from Phoenix, the big city is a short drive away but far enough that Surprise still maintains its small-town feel. Baseball fans will be pleased to know that Surprise is one of the homes of Major League Baseball’s Cactus League. During the spring, the city comes alive when fans from all over arrive to see the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers spring training and pre-season games.

With so much open space and perfect weather, it’s no wonder that Arizona is one of the best golf destinations in the world and Surprise is no different. With more than 10 courses of all skill levels, golfers can easily find tee times for a perfect round. Along with the abundant golf, Surprise is also home to the Southwest’s largest tennis and racquet club. The Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex is host to a number of professional events including the Outback Champion Series Tour and other USTA Pro Circuit events. Getting out of town and into the desert is the best way to experience the amazing landscape and views that are only possible in the southwest. Just to the west of town is White Tank Mountain Regional Park where there are trails for hiking and mountain biking with camping and BBQ areas throughout. The park is an excellent way to experience Arizona outside of the city and never be too far away.

Private Aircraft Charter to Surprise FAQ

What do I need to think about when chartering to Surprise?

While there are no airports in the city of Surprise, there are two useful options to service guests’ charter flights. Closest to Surprise is Glendale Municipal Airport – GEU- which is about 10 miles to the south with a 15-minute drive to town. And because GEU has very long runways, it can easily accommodate every size and class of jets. A second airport option for Surprise is Phoenix Deer Valley Airport – DVT - which also has sufficient runways for heavy jets and excellent ground handling facilities. DVT is a bit further at about 30-minutes by car and is a good choice for guests who will also be visiting places like Cave Buttes Recreation Area and Phoenix Sonoran Preserve.
