The Greater Phoenix Area is broken up into many towns and cities, all with a different style and feel. Tempe, to the south and east of Phoenix is one such town. The home of Arizona State University, Tempe is a college town with a very young and vibrant population and as such, there is a lot fun and excitement to be had during your visit. Tempe is set up as an inner suburb that is located between the East Valley and the city of Phoenix. Being a desert environment, the weather is one of the reasons so many people visit the region. Although the summers can be a bit warm, the air is dry and pleasant the winters are mild and a great break from the northern winters. While Tempe is densely populated, there are still open spaces to enjoy the outdoors including the Salt River and Tempe Buttes. One of the biggest draws in Tempe and the Phoenix area is that it is home to Major League Baseball’s Cactus League. The Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim train each spring in town at Tempe Diablo Stadium where you can see them practice and play pre-season games in preparation for the baseballs regular season. For outdoor fun, Tempe Town Lake is in the center of town and has all sorts of ways to enjoy the water such as by sailboat, motorboat and rowboat. It is also a popular spot to get out and exercise or just relax and enjoy the outdoors. When the sun goes down and you are ready for some nightlife, Mill Avenue is the downtown area that is filled with bars, clubs, restaurants and young people. What’s best about Tempe is that it is both a relaxing and exciting time, all at once and in an amazing desert city.
