Santa Fe

Your passport to the American Southwest

Set atop a plateau at more than 7,000 feet and at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains is the city of Santa Fe, NM. Once a capital of Spain and after that Mexico, Santa Fe is not only the oldest state capital in the U.S. but also the highest in elevation. Such a storied past makes Santa Fe an amazing town that is full of culture with a rich history and endless natural wonders. Santa Fe and its people, attractions and natural places are in a league of their own. Downtown is packed with storied art galleries, gourmet restaurants and an eclectic mix of shops. With such an eclectic past of Native American, Mexican and Spanish cultures, Santa Fe is a mix of old world culture mixed with a modern, cosmopolitan flair. Visitors to Santa Fe often find themselves in awe at the high level of sophistication for a city of this size while, at the same time, equally impressed with the rustic and natural setting of the region.

Santa Fe is literally full of museums focusing on the arts, history and culture of this amazing location. Georgia O’Keeffe, the “Mother of American Modernism”, lived in Santa Fe and spent much of her time painting the landscapes of New Mexico and enlarged flowers native to the region. The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is one stop that art fans cannot miss. Throughout the year in Santa Fe, there are many festivals celebrating everything from jazz and wine to music and film. The fall sees Santa Fe Fiesta when the city gathers to celebrate its rich, multicultural history with dance, music, arts and a parade. At the Santa Fe Wine & Chile Festival, 100+ wineries get together to present the many ways wine can be paired with Santa Fe’s famous southwestern cuisine. The accommodations in Santa Fe range from small B&B’s to full-service resorts with a southwestern flair. Decked out in classic Pueblo architecture is the highly recommended Inn and Spa at Loretto. This boutique property is right at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and offers luxurious rooms, authentic southwestern cuisine and a lovely spa, all with a style and culture and that is uniquely Santa Fe.
