When considering a trip to Colorado for winter fun on the slopes, one needs to looks no further than Vail. The mountain town was created to serve Vail Ski Resort, and the two make up what is commonly known as Vail. In 1966, the Vail Ski Resort was built, and two years later, the Town of Vail was incorporated. Vail Ski Resort sits on 5289 acres of land and boasts 193 trails over three faces that are served by 33 lifts. As for skiable land, it is the fourth largest in the U.S. with a variety of trails over mostly open terrain. The area is filled with a large number of ski and snowboarding outfitters with experts on hand to assist with rentals and purchases. And while Vail is rightfully known for its skiing and snowboarding, other exciting winter sports in the area include snowmobiling, tubing and ski-biking.

During the spring thaw, the Eagle Rivers rafting season takes place, and on the Colorado River, the season runs through the entire summer. On Vail Mountain, cyclists can save their legs and take the lifts to the top for an exciting ride back down. There are trails at all skill levels and all offer amazing views of the areas scenery with wildlife, vistas and valleys. Further, the summer in Vail sees endless exciting events. Extreme sports fans will really enjoy the GoPro Games and the Vail Whitewater Race Series with extreme sports on the land and in the water. For music aficionados, Bravo! Vail concert series offers some of the best orchestras in the U.S. such as the New York Philharmonic and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
